Hi All/Peter, Using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (and the same with 32-bit on my laptop) If I open 'Computer' I see my Directories on the left. If I now select 'Network' everything in my network is listed correctly with the exception of the Thecus N5200Pro as shown in 'Capture 1.jpg.' If I now type '\\Thecus N5200' in the address bar then the NAS appears. Anyone know why this is? Anyone know how to get it to be displayed by default? Regards and thanks to the wiser individuals here. Skier Attachments:

Hi again Peter,
Yep, definitely set correctly. If it wasn't I don't believe it would appear when I type '\\ThecusN5200' in the Address Bar.
I've tried sorting this problem on and off for ages but nothing seems to correct it. I know of someone else without a totally different NAS that has teh same problem so I suspect that it's something that's common to several/many NAS devices.
Any further suggestions gratefully received.

mine shows up just fine. I haven't done anything special, it's just there...but I do have some drives mapped. Not sure if this makes any difference.

I also have two drives mapped that always show correctly and so the absence of the NAS in the network view is a mild irritation rather than a major issue. What I don't understand is that as soon as I type 'ThecusN5200' in the address bar it shows up so I don't believe it's Firewall related (I use ESET Smart Security) or an issue with the Thecus itself; I'm convinced the problem lies within Windows.

I'm also using Windows 7 64bit. I mapped the NAS drives and Windows remembers those without any problems. I did it on the command prompt with the "net use" command.

An update to this situation should it be helpful to anyone.
Today I changed my router (from a UK BT Home Hub 2 to a Home Hub 3). Once set-up the Thecus NAS immediately showed up in the Network within Windows 7 Explorer. It seems it was probably something to do with the way the BT Home Hub 2 handled UPnP.
