Hey, there is an option to set TwonkyMedia server to automatically watch media directories for new content.
The description says, This option specifies the rescan behavior of the server. If set to 0, automatic rescans are disabled. A positive value specifies the period between rescans of content directories in minutes. -1 enables the server to watch content directories automatically for new content without the need for rescans.
When I set it to -1 though, the CPU loading of the Thecus goes to 100% and some of the media I stream starts to skip.
Should I not set it to -1 or have I missed something?

A permamnet scanning of the drives is not a good idea - it's very CPU hungry and Your harddiscs will never go to sleep - it's better to set a proper intervall in minutes. There are always reported issues with setting this value to 0. You should overthink if You realy have the need that all content is availbale via the media server immdiate. I have stopped using it like that very early and have set it to 1500 Minutes - so about one time a day - if I want to have some content available immediate I do a manal rescan via the webinterface. br Peter
