Hi forum, i am trying to activate notifications on my three N2100 (fw 2.1.06). Unfortunatly it does not work I am from germany and my mailprovider is "1und1". Mail Auth Type is Plain Login as you can see here: 220 smtp.1und1.de (mrelayeu4) Welcome to Nemesis ESMTP server ehlo mail.myaclick.de 250-mrelayeu4.kundenserver.de pleased to meet you 250-STARTTLS 250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN 250-AUTH=PLAIN LOGIN 250-PIPELINING 250-SIZE 52428800 250 HELP I have a valid mailadress (which is the account ID) and password and tried all Auth Tyypes the Thecus offers (on, plain, cram-md5, login, off). No success. Auth and sending mails with the login data is working in Thunderbird without any problems. The questions are: - Is this working for anybody? - How can i get verbose information? There is nothing in the logs of the N2100 - can i check/emulate this with ssh? There is no telnet client... - which software on the N2100 is sending the mail? Thanks for your help wengi EDIT: Pressing the send button results in a message "Test E-Mail Sent!" - But there is no mail sent...

Wengi,
have a close look at META scripts email_via_gmx.sh or email_via_google.sh. Towards the end you will find a command to enable logging. I used this to debug several smtp related problems.

Hi wengi Thanks to getmythe track, I succeeded to activate notifications on my Thecus N2100 (fw 2.1.03).
At first : i added "--logfile=/var/log/msmtp.log" in the line : "mail_body "${user}" "${recip}" | ${msmtp} --logfile=/var/log/msmtp.log --from="max.hila@free.fr" --host=${host} --port=${port} --auth="${auth}" --tls=off --user="${user}" -p "${p}" ${recip}" from the script /app/bin/logevent/email This permits to obtain the first diag into the logfile.
In my case i had to define tls=no and auth=no and to transfer my complete mail add "me.max@free.fr"
At second : to obtain permanent correction after reboot I installed the META module (http://www.onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N2100_Module:_META) - Thanks a lot to Lzimmerma) and do my modif into my own copy of one of the scripts (email_via_google.sh)
History : I tryed to do that notification working, one year ago when I installed my N2100, but without success ! A recent 'Raid 1 degraded' without mail, conviced me to try again.
Thanks : for your initial question (wengi) to the track (getmythe) to LZimmerma (I also use other modules from him : NFS module, by example)

Hi, thanks for your hints. The main problem (original notification not working) is solved in firmware 2.01.09. But its good to have a possibility to send mails from my own scripts wengi

For 2.1.09 you have to enable script tls_for_smtp via META first, then on the Notification page set AUTH to on and do NOT specify a Sender's E-Mail Address. Only enter your gmail address as Receivers' E-Mail Address.

Only enter your gmail address as Receivers' E-Mail Address. I don't understand the "enable script tls_for_smtp via META. Where do I do this?? It almost appears to be at a different level than just the User interface. I am having the same issues with gmail as stated above. Thanks
