The lights on the front-panel are far too bright. In the night the box shines like a street light. My work-around is to hide it in a box.
During day it attracts the attention of the kids with risk of them manipulating the box.
A few discrete LEDs would be much better for the front-panel, or a way to dim/switch the lights off.

why not insert a small (eg 200Ohm) resister in it ?
should'n be to hard to do, if your afraid to get into soldering, you could try wrapping some kind of color filter (gum wrap) around the led to 'dim' the light abit.
