the short of it... not working. Set up one, Backup, as the target server. Turned on FTP (just in case) made user with access to the nsync folder. Set up two, Quantum, made task, test connection with user name and pass was successful.
wait for the backup time to be reached. nothing starts. I'm only copying 2 folders very small, just to test this out.
so after it doesn't start automatically, I press the arrow "play" button at the end of the task to start it. and it hangs there. it doesn't stop. I can stop it. It says it's in progress. The only way I have found to stop it is by reloading the config file from before I added the backup task.
any help? thanks

Sadly I was not able to get this to work either. So instead I have to Map both units to my MacbooPro and use a VOlume copy through the Macbook Pro.
A lot of bugs in the N4100Pro. I can't say I recommend it at all because it does not seem they are fixing any of them.
Looks like I will be paying a bit more for a professional NAS unit. the PRO on the end of 4100 is an Oxy Moron.

I have the Thecus N8800, Firmware version 2.01.09 and have also experienced major issues with Nsync.
Tech support told me that I should keep folders to 30GB or less when using Nsync. That makes this feature quite impractical.
I was trying to sync a folder that was around 300GB but after it "completed" without errors (this took several days), there was nothing in the target folder.
I've also had issues with smaller folders. The sync completes without errors but only some of the files are in the target folder.
