I just upgraded to the new N5200PRO firmware V2.01.09
I noticed in this release that GMail TLS support was added for Email Notification.
I remember reading previous threads that one of the issues in the previous firmware release prevented notification to work for gmail because TLS needed to work to be able to use the gmail account.
I'm wondering if anyone tried setting up with new release yet to see if it works as I was not successful.
Thanks,
Nibbles

actually it seems to work fine now. I updated the firmware and then installed a module and got my first report sent by the N5200

the module had nothing to do with it (it's the php file manager) I'm not even sure if my post was correct, it could be that I have changed my email settings previously and might have used another smtp server.

I can't get it working with 2.01.09.
I have POP enabled in my gmail account. I've tried various permutations of parameters. I'm using gmail auth, my full email as the username, my full email as the "email from", and I'm sending to my own email (i've tried others).
I have only tried using the "Test" button.

Any chance that Your password is more than 12 characters? If Yes, it will not work, cause the password is limited to 12 characters.
Ah yes, You should use the settings which You ahev also on Your e-mail client for sending mails, cause the N5200 acts as email client for sending the mails.
The N5200 must be connected via WAN port and the DNS must be setted.

Hello Flynn, I believe it's important to consider checking certain key points to ensure that you're able to successfully setup email notification: 1st - DNS Entry: It has been raised and discussed in a number of threads and it seems to be one of the common points missed when setting up this feature. In my own personal case, I found it easier to setup my router with it's own DNS Entry (I believe Falko mentioned this point - important one) 2nd - Password limitation seems to be set to up to 12 characters so please make sure that you have this set to less than this. 3rd - make sure you chose the correct option in your notification settings for auth type is correctly selected 4th - are you using the latest firmware release for the N5200? I believe if you focus on the key areas along with the remaining howto's discussed, you should be successful. Nibbles

thanks for the tips peter + nibbles, I got it working.
in my case it was the DNS setting that wasn't setup. i've been able to get away without it set for a long time, although it was the source of a few bugs in various apps.
I chose to use my real DNS servers (from my gateway's status) + my gateway itself, in that order.
i think i could have easily missed the "enable POP" access in the gmail settings too (since i wasn't using it).
