Hello,
i have a N1200 device, and im having trouble to set up it the way i want.
Before explaining my problem, let me describe my local network at home.
First of all, i have a cable modem which connected to my wireless robotics router's wan port. I got 3 computers in home, 2 of them(desktops) wired to router, 1 of them connecting wireless(laptop). Desktop pc's using static ips for torrents etc. However Laptop running on dynamic ip, so my router's DHCP server is on. I'm not willing to close DHCP server on router because my girlfriend and other friends come quite alot, and they bring their laptops. I dont wanna give their computers manual ips every time they come. Anyway i bought a Thecus N1200, wired it to the one of the empty sockets on my router. Ran the setup utility on desktop pc 1, everything went fine. I want to use N1200 like a switch plus its NAS capabilities. I put N1200 in my room, where my xbox 360 and pc(desktop 2) is. I wired my xbox and pc to N1200's lan ports. However i coudnt get internet on both. Coudnt connect to nas either. N1200 was only accessible on desktop pc 1. Then i took of the cable from wan port, and put it in another lan port on N1200 then my xbox and pc(desktop 2) managed to connect internet. However i wasnt able to connect N1200 still.
I want to set up my lan like this.
Cable modem(192.168.100.1)->Robotics router(192.168.2.1)-->Desktop 1(192.168.2.4) and N1200(192.168.2.X, lets say 9 for x)--> Desktop 2(192.168.2.8) and Xbox(192.168.2.55)
As i stated before i could only managed to access internet on desktop 2 and xbox when N1200 connected to other router through N1200's LAN ports, not WAN. Still, N1200 was inaccessable for desktop 2. Any idea how can i fix this?
My N1200 firmware version is the lastest one 1.00.8 beta.
I tried to close DHCP and give static ip to N1200 and i kept getting LAN1 and LAN2 cant be on same segment error.
Any help would be appriciated. Thanks
