Hi,
Just in the process of setting my N299. In order to share folders on Windows PC, I understand I have to use NFS and create users. It seems I MUST include a password when I create a user.
Now when I map the N299 as a network drive, I'm prompted for the user password each time I connect to it. This is VERY annoying (my other Synology NAS does not do that).
How can I map a network drive in Windows and not be asked for a passwrod?

You do not have to use NFS you have to use ACL for Windows share.

Thanks for the tip. But I understand that even with ACL, I need to declare users and they each have a password.
Will I be able to map a network drive without being requested a password?

Finally made it on myself. Managed to map a network drive without needing password. Changes I made are:
- enabling NFS - declared the shared folder public
I suspect it's the latest that allows me to map a network drive without password. Now that this is solved, my latest gripe about the N299 is the absence of internal HDD hibernation.
