Yes it is possible to update the kernel without serial, but it also very stupid, as you can't check or debug uboot if something goes wrong or if your kernel / firmware image is bad.
You compile a new kernel along with a new environment (image), you then convert that into a thecus firmware package and use the firmware updater or your manually overwrite the flash partitions on the Thecus device using ssh, this is very DANGEROUS without serial as you can't debug it, so I don't recommend it at all.
Instead just build modules for the 2.6.11.12 kernel thecus ships with and load them insmod, rmmod and modprobe.

Can you please tell me how can i compile the kernel with a enviroment(firmware) and the how can i convert it so i can uploade it. I have already compiled the entire kernel but i don't know where is the firmware. In what folders is it saved.
If i recompile the kernel and uploaded it to the nas alot of problems would be solved.
I did the same thing on a wrt54gl. But was a lot easyer Help please

No I won't as given your lack of experience, knowledge and skill, you will break or brick your Thecus, and I don't want to be held responsible for it.

You don't need to change the kernel for iptables, if you see the other thread, you will notice that all you have to is add the library and iptables will work.
Why don't you talk with your ISP ?
I am happy to make the modules however it may take a bit of time, lucky for you I have 3 weeks of break from my study. Calm down and stop shouting ..., its bad manners.

I already talked to my isp. For any device in the house that uses the internet i need a extra subscription and have to pay extra. They are asholes. Every ISP here has this roule Any way. Please make the the modules. I looked over your reply and thanks alot. But i'm new to this and most of the things you wrote there i don't understand. Unless i have a step by step tutorial i can't build the modules. Please make me the 2 modules and email me to badboy1985ro@yahoo.com when are finished.
