Hello. I just downloaded the gpl code from gpl-nas-central and i wold like to know: 1-What linux distro do i need to compile the firmware (ubuntu, gentoo, etc) 2-what packages and dependencies do i have to install so the proces work.
I tried to compile the code on ubuntu and i get some errors. I manage to configure the firmware using "make menuconfig" but after saving the changes and starting the make process i get some error like power pc gcc not foud or stuff like that.
Help please

You don't need a distro, you either need a native environment on the thecus n1200, will all the build tools as ppc binaries (taken from debian woody), or a ppc chroot (doesn't matter what distro, I have a gentoo chroot) or alternately you need a cross dev installation configured for compiling ppc binaries for the mpc8037, once again doesn't matter which distro.
Dependencies and files required are in the readme files for the individual packages. Why are you recompiling the firmware anyways ?
Better to leave it as is until you have serial / jtag access and a working chroot environment and kernel that you can convert to firmware format.
