Hello together! I have update from FW 2.00.05.1 to FW 2.00.08 and the update procedure works smoothly. Automatic shutdown, reboot after update and all works smoothly! The NSYNC task's , the e-mail notification and the UPS works all fine. The HDD spindown I will check later at night... Best regards, Thorsten

Hi,
NSYNC-task copies all specified shares to the nsync-destination, but it does not really synchronize: if you delete or rename files in the directory, which is going to be nsynced, the old files are not deleted in the destination folder, only the "new files" will be added as well, so the hdd´s will sooner or later be full of files, which are not needed anymore.
well, it´s still better than in the 2.00.04 where NSYNC didn´t do anything at all ;D:-9
Greetings George

I successfully updated my N5200 a few times using the 2.00.08 firmware. However, each time, when the system reboot, the Product Information displayed after log in said that it is still running 2.00.04 firmware. When I updated the firmware, the page clearly indicated that it was updating from 2.00.04 to 2.00.08, and I downloaded the 2.00.08 firmware from the Thecus home page. Has this happened to anyone? You are probably running IMGDUP... If you haven't disabled it, do so now. Next uninstall it. Using sysuser module, go in an rm -R /raid/data/module/backup/IMGDUP After that re-install IMGDUP and it will show the correct firmware and run correctly.

Upgraded from 2.00.04 to 2.00.08, no problems there. Nsync is now running well , previously it will just stop backup at the start now it completes it... Tried mounting ISOs, and it works, it appears in the folder where the ISO is opened from...

So using the INFO Module mine doesn't appear to be spinning down. Number stays at 9 on the first drive.
Does anyone who has the SC 7.0 (2.00.01) module installed have their drives spinning down?
Also, when I look at the results of the INFO module, it reports on the first disk but the other 4 give errors. I'm guessing its becasue the Smart State is diabled on those for some reason but I have never done anything to disable the, their all brand new installed drives. How can I enable smart state on them?
Thxs!

In order to enable SMART for the other hard disks, login via SSH and try this command:
smartctl -d marvell -s on-o on -S on /dev/sdb
Do the same for /dev/sdc, /dev/sdd, etc.
Check the smart state (and verify that SMART is turned on now) using
smartctl -d marvell /dev/sdb

Install of 2.00.08 was smooth on my system. Just to be safe, I always reboot the server, then install the patch. Took about 20-30 seconds or so for the patching (always a nervous time!).
The new "Mount ISO" option looks interesting. The drive spindown does work on my Western Digital 500GB RE2 drives.
Also noticed a (new?) "Caching" option for SMB filesystem - not sure exactly what it is caching though.
Web interface does indeed seem much faster on this new version.
No problems so far!

That worked like a charm, thanks Andreas! even persists through a reboot!
Now to figure out if anything can be done about SC making the NAS not spin down (which is my guess).
The SB is constantly polling the server since the second the NAS turns off the SB really turns off (i.e. screen goes black), and I'm gussing it polls the server for time and other things failry frequently. Because the second the NAS comes back up the SB resyncs with the time etc.
So time to research if there is a way to really make the SB go off in the SC settings, stop time, polling or something that can be tweaked to SC so it doesnt prevent the NAS from spinning down!

Hello together!
Today I have checked the result from the NSYNC Tasks. I can't confirm George's issues that the old files are not deleted. At my NSYNC Tasks all moved files are delete and write new correctly.
Best regards, Thorsten :-)

Hello to all of you.
After deleting and re-making the NSYNC-tasks they work on my machine as well. Maybe it didn´t work after updating to 2.00.08 and starting the "old" NSYNC-tasks.
has anybody an idea what the new files in the nsync-folder are used for? (I wonßt even touch them!)
Greetings George

Hi all Upgrade to 2.00.08 was a thrill but done within 10 to 15 seconds (after a full-Backup time of about 6 hours). I noticed one difference in the log file. The message at boot time about the raid system and disks is not shown anymore. The two notification mails (EM213E and EM207E are sent by mail as before the upgrade. Everything works fine inclusive my mySQL server. Now I gonna to configure the HD spin down. rgds Markus

Upgraded from 2.00.04 to 2.00.08 without any problems.
Followed the advice to reboot system prior to firmware update.

Hello, 2.00.08 update worked flawlessly. The system told me to reboot ( manually ) to make changes effective. My SC7 installation basically works and does not prevent disk spin down of samsung hd501lj. It only prevents spin down if music is being played. But that is quite understandable ay? I have some trouble with changing configuration settings in SC7 I think I have go t a rights issue with writing to the config files. Didn't sort it out yet. Best regards Jeronimo
