Hi,
Can anyone tell me if this combination will work? I want to use the Popcorn box to stream content from a UPNP server on the 5200Pro BR
Can anyone also tell me if the Western Digital 1TB Caviar Green HDD work with this?
Thanks Kris

Kris,
I am using the Popcorn Hour with a N5200 (not pro) and have had zero problems. I stream DVD .ISO files using NFS over a 108mbps wireless-g network. I have not tried streaming to the Popcorn Hour via UPNP do to the fact I am streaming .ISO files.

Unfortunately I have streamed only one .MKV file (Surfs Up) but it does play fine. However I suspect it is not a very high bit-rate file, the total file size is 2.18GB. I have also successfully played 9mbps WMV-HD files. How high a bit-rate are your .MKVs?

What UPNP server are you using? Have you tried streaming via NFS?

I am sorry, I misunderstood your problem. In your first post you mentioned streaming from a UPNP server. What steps have you taken to playback via NFS? I just used the information here and on the popcorn hour forum to set mine up. Sorry your setup is being difficult, I know how frustrating it can be.

I'm so happy Hi I am new and technically a Neanderthaler. How and where did you do that? On the Thecus web interface? Or else? And what is the nfs://192.168.0.2:/raid1/data/Movies exactly? The folder of your movie data on the 5200? Thanks for your help

Howdy Trazom,
The Thecus is a hardy little Linux system. You can enable NFS on the Thecus web interface (Network -> NFS). The reason people use NFS is because it is faster than Samba (Windoze shares). Enabling NFS will automatically share all of the shares you have created.
Say my Thecus has an IP of 10.1.1.253 and has two raid sets created with a share called Media on the first raid set, and a share called Music on the second raid set. I would be able to access the NFS shares from a client (Popcorn Hour) like this: nfs://10.1.1.253:/raid0/data/Media nfs://10.1.1.253:/raid1/data/Music
So from the Popcorn Hour (Setup -> Network Shares -> Add) I would the add nfs://10.1.1.253:/raid0/data/Media nfs://10.1.1.253:/raid1/data/Music
Cheers.

......Enabling NFS will automatically share all of the shares you have created....... Are You sure ? I had the impression that You have to activate NFS for each share after of course enabling the NFS service by itself. br Peter

Oops, you are correct. You do need to enable NFS on each Share you create (once the NFS service has been enabled).
Sorry about that. It's been a long time since I created any Shares.
For anyone interested, I have found both the Thecus N5200 and Popcorn Hour to be very good (but not perfect ;D ) products. They work well together.

On my N5200pro I'm using TwonkyMedia to share movies towards a new Popcorn A-110 (gigabit ethernet). Up to now I didn't have any problems (even for big >10GB 1080p movies).
Might you advise me about differences between using TwonkyMedia or plain NFS?
Many thanks g
