I think, it could be so simple.
1. for home environment
I wish a working standby function for the disks, 0-120min, and a second timer also 0-120 min, which counts down after the HDD are in standby. If this timer run to 0 the NAS-box will be shut down. With wol it can be restarted. So is no physical access needed and you can place it where you like.
2. for office use, the scheduler for start stop already exist.
3. and for during business use 24/7, you set simple the two timer to zero.
for a all 3 kinds I wish that the power management opportunities from mobile CPU will be used, so that, if the CPU not hard works a reduced system frequency is in use, the result will be a lower idle power consumption.
I hope MR and MRS THECUS will read this and tell this their engineers. :-)
