Hi there, last but not least and just before my holidays I'm able to release the new module SQUEEZECENTER which implements SqueezeCenter version 7.0. You can get it HEREAhhh, just for the impatient and because at this moment the Thecus Wiki server doesn't respond, the link to the alternative place for the SQUEEZECENTER module is HERE. Please note, that this alternative download link is only temporary and valid only for some time... Here are some infos about the module: - If you have SlimServer installed, you need to uninstall that first (or at least disable it). It is not valid to have SlimServer and SqueezeCenter enabled at the same time.
- The installation of SqueezeCenter doesn't take care of any databases, plugins, settings, etc. of a previously installed SlimServer installation. If you need something of this, you need to save it manually!
- I've added a suggestion of egd so that MySQL doesn't use /tmp as the temporary directory. Therfore I've added the statement "tmpdir = [% datadir %]" to the file MySQL/my.tt
- This version already comes with the AlienBBC plugin (version 2.0) which seems to work reasonably.
- The preferences, logs, playlist, etc. are now stored in system/etc/... as a default. Of course it is possible to adjust these pathes later in the configuration pages of SqueezeCenter if required.
- A first test adding 3200 MP3 files to the database took about 6 minutes on my (old) N5200.
- I've disabled the PERL Encode::Detect modules because of a problem with the SqueezeCenter source code. This is not a big issue at the moment as this feature is optional anyway.
- The newest version of mplayer (version 1.0rc2) was added to this version (needed for AlienBBC anyway).
- The startup script was changed so that there shouldn't be any problems with file permissions anymore.
- Last but not least: I haven't had time to test everything and I'm not a user of SqueezeCenter myself. So I hope there are no big issues with this new version - but anyway, it's a new version so everything is possible.... Have fun!
As long as the module hasn't been uploaded to the Thecus Wiki, I've placed the module on a temporary download server. Please check out the Wiki page for the module mentioned above. I hope this new module works for you. If not, you'll need to wait at least two weeks as I'm on holidays, sorry But you also get the source code (as always) so feel free to find any errors and send me the corrections.... Hope you can enjoy it! Andreas P.S. I've just noticed that Mikkel has uploaded the module to the Wiki, so now the download link there should work too. Thanks a lot, Mikkel!!

Hello, are lame and flac included or should I save them first? Could anyone take a look at: /raid/data/module/SLIMSERVER/slimserver/Bin/i386-linux/ I am not quite sure right now and maybe it is slightly incorrect but I would need to save those apps first. Thanks Jeronimo

Jeronimo,
I have had SC7 installed for a couple of days now.
Love the new interface.
The flac file is installed but I don't see the lame file in the directory. However SC7 reports that lame is installed and working properly. I dropped the lame file in anyway just in case I need it. So far I have not tried the MP# feature with the new setup streaming.
Synchronization with the Softqueeze client and hardware SB3s is excellent. This is clearly much improved. I am using this now but in the past had not been able to get good sync. Now it is perfect.
The scans of my collection only took about 16 minutes which is quite reasonable.
Web interface is quite responsive other than the issue noted below.
I would like to compare notes on a issue i am seeing. Initially I had some web interface performance problems including the Thecus admin web interface. So I rebooted and all seemed well. Played random music all day and life was good. Then I added a couple of albums and the same problem occurred. In particular other than being slow it did not show the album art in most instances. Reboot and all was well. I rescanned and shortly thereafter the same issue. Doing a un-enable and enable for the SC7 fixed this again. Looking at the processor use during this did not indicate the processor was taxed at all.
N5200, 512mb, raid 5, 2 terabtes, ~10,000 tracks.

Hello, SQUEEZECENTRE WORKS GREAT HERE!!! Thanks! Pelicle, I can not say to have encountered similar problems. But I am not using my SB3 that intense. Just listen to music ones or twice a day just a cd not much calm time Web interfaces have worked all well. Only trouble was the configuration wizard of SC7 reporting not being able to get an internet connection. Haven't checked it. Not using Squeezenetwork much anyway. Rather using local music. Cheers Jeronimo PS.: Most important was firmware 36 for my tp

Jeronimo, Could you try this? Do a complete rescan of your music and then test out the web interface over hour or so with album art turned on.
I would appreciate this. If it is just me then I need to fiqure out what is different in my set up. If it is a genral issue then we need to address as a module or SC7 issue.
Yes I use mine extensively as I work out of my home and my other half likes to have music during the day as well. We have it on for hours a day.
Regards

Hello Pellicle, well, I am blind. Not using artwork much. Is there an easy way to get artwork for my 210 albums? If so I could add it and well to my wife a favour and then conduct your test. In the last days I have listened to music some what more (easter days). No trouble so far. My library was rebuilt by SC7 right after installation of course. Cheers Jeronimo PS.: Do you use the web gui via a computer or a handheld device? Try using fishbone or handheld skin or classic. Perhaps it is a problem with the new skin? I noticed it being somewhat slow at times and well I don't want the fancy graphics bit and switched to classic again. That works great. Under linux I use handheld works even faster without artwork anyway.

Jeronimo, I forgot you do not have use for albums graphics.
I will try the classic interface to see if this performs better.
I have now shown this is very repeatable on my system. If I do a full scan after the scan is complete it is immediately manifested. The scan show succesful completion in the web interface.
If I select a Album to play it will start but the graphics for the album only show on the first track in the right window and not at all in the left. Trying to stop the album typically does not work and responsiveness of the web interface goes to ****. If I unenable and enable the module it will run fine for as long as a new full scan is not done. The san results seem to be accurate and complete. The rescan for new and changes does not cause this issue. I usually have a scan done each night but will do this manually for now. I have uninstalled erased all traces of files and directories and reinstalled with the same results.
I find the following errors in the log after the scan:
[08-03-27 14:53:07.3693] Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::PrefSync::_syncUp_error (390) Sync Up failed: No such player: 00:04:20:07:b2:91 [08-03-27 15:19:14.4651] Slim::Networking::Select::select (245) Error: Select task failed: mkdir /raid/data/module/SQUEEZECENTER/system/SlimCache/Artwork/f/e/c: Permission denied at /raid0/data/module/SQUEEZECENTER/squeezecenter/lib/Cache/FileBackend.pm line 222 [08-03-27 15:19:14.6867] Slim::Networking::Select::select (245) Error: Select task failed: Error in tempfile() using /raid/data/module/SQUEEZECENTER/system/SlimCache/Artwork/1/0/d/XXXXXXXXXX: Parent directory (/raid/data/module/SQUEEZECENTER/system/SlimCache/Artwork/1/0/d/) is not writable at /raid0/data/module/SQUEEZECENTER/squeezecenter/lib/Cache/FileBackend.pm line 5691

I think i'm having very similar problems. The album artwork wouldn't load at the top of the Now Playing portion of the web interface (consistent in Fishbone and the new default skins).
Re-booted and it seems to be working as expected now.
Also this is my complete Scan log, it doesn't look right to me.

This seems to be isolated to the full scan. I am using the partial scan option now and this is working fine with no impact on web performance. The problem writing to the art cache seems to be symptomatic of the issue. System has run fine several days using the partial scan each night. THe work around is to do a enable sisenable / enable after a full scan.
The other minor issue seems to be the download links for th scanner and sqeezecenter logs. It seems it takes a long time and once one file has been downloaded both links will downoad the same file.
I don't find this too troublesome as I access the files directly outside of SC7.

Nicolasz, Unfortunately not. The n3200 uses a different CPU architecture than the n5200.

I'm also having artwork problems. Same issue of Now Playing not displaying in web interface but also no artwork displays on the Duet Controller "Now Playing" screen.
The smaller images do appear on the controller when I browse for an album to play. Just no image on the "Now Playing" screen/screensaver.
Did log an email support ticket with SlimDevices. Was told to upgrade my controller firmware from r2097 to r2448. This of course requires SC 7.0.1 so will have to leave that suggestion for now.
Will have a go at pellicle's suggested workarounds - disable/enable, partial scans etc and se what affect they have.
