Good morning at all, this is my first message. Well, in my new N299 I have mounted ONLY one disk (SEAGATE 500Gb ST3500320NS). The N299 found it and I can create a JBOD in the RAID config page. At the end, I found "JBOD"-"474,619MB"-"Healthy"-"0MB(0%)" in "RAID" information page and "OK" in "Disks" Information page for "disk 1" and "Not exist" for "Disk 2" at column "status". Now, if I try to create a folder (in "folder" page) I receive this answer :"Please config the RAID first then carry on with FW installation to complete setup procedure." The questions are: Can the N299 work with ONLY one disk? It's correct configure the system in "JBOD" (in any way "RAID 0" or "RAID 1" are not selectable"). Why I cannot create folders? Thanks a lot a t all can help me. Best regards, G. Braguti

Well , JBOD is ok with one disk. But i have exactly the same problems. The systems claims the RAID installation is not complete. JBOD or RAID : it makes no difference. I cannot continue the installation. Am i missing something?

Now if i check the firmware in my 2 weeks old N299 i read : V1.00.26. If i check the site the latest firmware is V1.00.24. So, what's happening? Where is the V1.00.26 on their site? In fact : it would be a downgrade. Does downgrades work? I gonna ask this question to my local distributor .

Hello again... Sorry at all for my question... I have solved: After create a RAID, I need to re-upload the firmware V1.00.24... All my miss understing was in my idea that the Firmware upgrade was needed ONLY in the N299 Hardware and not in the HDD... Now I have understood. Bye bye

It's possible find another firmware release? It is really a bit strange that there is a newer firmware on the actual CD than mentioned on the website. Nevertheless the new firmware is there even if not easy to find. Have a look here onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N299_Firmware for a listing of available firmware. Bye Peter

1) Yes, if you have only one disk, then JBOD Is fine, and, in fact JBOD is *all* you can do with one disk.
2) If you have a unit which shipped with 1.00.26 on you WILL Have to re-upload the firmware from the suppiled CD once you've done the niitial RAID format before you can do anything else. No idea why - just do it, it'll be fine.
I'd be interested to know what teh second disk, the one the unit fails to recognise, *is* - we've been having some problems with 299s failing to recognise some disks, and I'm gathering info to narrow down what the common factors are...
