Hi
I'am using my new N299 as backup device for several PCs, some with XP Prof., one with Vista Ultimate. And I would like to do this via Windows shares (SMB).
Now, from the XP machines I have no problems.
But accessing the device from Vista's explorer, I alway get the message: "File \\192.168.1.68 not found ...".
I have also tried to set the network security setting of Vista with secpol.msc to 1 or 2 (LM and NTLM answering), but that didn't help for the N299 with firmware 1.00.24.
Any helpfull hint will be highly appreciated!
Cheers Ben

Is nothing to do with Vista sort of. Did you access the thecus from "Networks" or did you mapped the drive? Many people here experiences ACL control problems. I can say the ACL does work if you config it correctly. First fix the ACL control to allow-all then try again to access the thecus from Vista by mapping. Now you can either leave ACL off or back on depending if you want other people on your network accidently delecting your files with it off.

Hi
One should switch on "Netbios over TCP ", which is usualy dissabled in my LAN according to Microsoft KB 204279.
I was very astonished, that Thecus do not take care of Microsoft's Knowledge Base! Because I was new to Thecus and used to use WD netcenter (which worked fine without Netbios), this was all the more unusual for me!
