Hmmm...seems like the N299 finally is going to be launched, because of a new beta-firmware in de downloads folder. Actually I was thinking this one wouldn't be launched because it takes so long and the N3200 has been announced. Hopefully the N3200 will be launched sooner, I would like one

nice I like the features. I might get an upgrade, hehe. But I hope the N299 is different than the current N series. Hope for faster Speed......... I did manage to find some online places that are already selling the N299, so it might be releasing soon in the US. product.people.com.cn/detail/126/125377/price.shtml

Hi,
just a couple of questions from a potential buyer:
- Wireless USB key: which model do you recommend (in the list provided by Thecus, which I don't already have)
- SlimServer: I am considering installing the SlimServer from Slim Devices in order to hook up my N299 to a SqueezeBox. How easy would this task be?
Thanks, Vincent.

Be aware: The N299 is more of an N2100-
The performance of an N299 is lower than the performance of the N2100. The CPU does not have as much umpf. This was also confirmed by a Thecus representative on the offical Hexus Thecus forums. The transfer speed was quoted as up to 70% of the speed of the N2100.
The N2100 performance of Slimserver 6.5.4 or Squeezecenter 7.0 alpha is rather low. The web interface responsiveness is not acceptable. Communication with Squeezboxes is no problem though.

What about the speed concern for the N299? What is it that you consider unacceptable?
Do any comparisons exist?
I am considering to purchase this device, the speed statement now concerns me.
