Hi All
I have been attempting to setup the Print Server on my N299V1 I bought a week ago, but it just does not work. I am now concerned that Thecus is not supporting this feature anymore as it no longer appears as a feature for this model on their website or on the site I purchased it from, but is was there a week ago, however it is a feature shown in the user manual in the PDF file on the CD supplied, so I am not going crazy.
I have tried to setup a Samsung and a Brother laser printers, and both will not setup as per the user manual:
"Select “Connect to a printer on the Internet or on a home or office network”, and enter “http://N299_IP_ADDRESS:631/printers/usb-printer” into the URL field." with the IP address of the N299 device failed to connect to the printer message was displayed, The Printer Status shows the Printer brand and model and idle for the Brother, but not connected for the Samsung laser.
In the manual it states on page 23:
"In order to use the Printer Server, you must first install the Printer Server module located on the installation CD. Once installed, the Printer Status option will appear on the Main Menu."
I could not find any software on the CD supplied or on the Thecus website to install, however the I have found references to a module that needs be installed on many websites and wikis?
Please can anyone supply the software to activate this feature or advise how fix the problem. No information on printer compatibility problems were advertised when I purchased this product and print server function was the main decision of purchasing the unit. We have purchased 2 of these where I work (so far) and this is mine at home, but I am the first to try the Print Server feature.
Regards
Andrew
