Hi
Is it possible to use my N3200 as a web server to host my website ??
I already have a custom DYNDNS account pointing my domain to my ip address and port forwarding active to point to the N3200
I just don't know how to setup the N3200 to host the webpages ??
Thanks
Gav

That would be cool, best with plesk installed ;D
I dont know.
I have got a N2100 here and for that there arent modules to set up a webserver.
But I ordered a N3200, I hope that it will be here before christmas.
Greets, Benny.

answer from Thecus
Hi Gavin,
Nope, we are not aware of such a module.
Actually, there is a way to do it without use of module, some non-official Thecus forums has such information.
But, this would require SSH access to Thecus, which would void the mfg warranty, in additional depending on your knowledge with Linux, or lack of knowledge, while SSH into NAS, you could unknowingly corrupt NAS file system, and cause NAS to be unstable. We highly recommend against it.
Best Regards !

Pity, because I reckon interest in the Thecus units would increase tenfold if they had a webserver module.
Imagine all of the people around the world with a pc setup as a web server (like me) ... could do away with the overheads of an os install and use the unlimited capacity of NAS drive.......... oooooh I shiver at the thought

I have been using my n2100 as a web server. I set it up manually via the back end using SSH access.
It will never be a module though because the n2100 (and most likely the n3200 as well) doesn't have the performance to work well as a web server.
It simply cannot handle all of the requests properly and any pages that you try and load from it will not load fully and you'll need to keep hitting refresh on your browser to get the page to load. And that is with more memory and some tweaking of the apache setup.
I now run an old G4 MAC running debian as a web server with an NFS share back to the NAS filesystem. It has the power but not the capacity.

Hi,
ok, it seems that there is not enough power for a webserver. But for filehosting I managed to get that webaccess module from the n2100 to work. So if anyone wants it write to me.
Benny.

I don't need much performance It's just for my own personal site with only updates of some recent photos etc I am from Ireland living in australia and want to show photos for my family back home I'm looking for a solution to host the webpages on the n3200 without having a PC on all the time ========================================= I have been using my n2100 as a web server. Hi,
You can try WebAccess Module (http://onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N3200_Module:_WEBAccess).
Once installed, you can allow web access to your share folder. You can program some PHP and it will act like web server. I use this to try out PHP.
If you are only publishing to a limited group of people, why not just give account to those people? They can login to your N3200, and look at your pictures thru Photo Web Server function.
