Hello,
I have an N3200 with firmware version 1.0.00 and a configured RAID5 setup. I have been trying to get this device recognized from both Active Directory and Apple Mac networks but have both 'AFP" and "NFS" entries missing from the Network area.
Can anyone tell me why these are missing please?
Regards
bmak

Hi bmak,
You have to install the "firmware" that either came on the CD, or download from thecus.com (currently both are the same) to activate the extra features like AFP, AD, and NFS support.
I know it doesn't seem to makes sense, as they appear to be the same. But, that's what activates the extras. It actually says to do that in the manual.
Buy the way, when you've done that, would you let me know how AFP transfers go? i.e. connect to the N3200 via Connect to server and afp://192.168.1.100 or whatever. Then copy a large number of files to it (10,000 plus). When I do it on my N3200, it crashes the unit. Thecus asked me to "sent it in for RMA service".
Cheers

HI Justin Yes, I did the firmware upgrade and the two missing items have appeared. I am unable to let you know the results of your requested test as I can not successfully create and then connect to a folder on any level. However, many others here have replicated your problem with crashes following the move of large blocks of files and it has been advertised well enough for someone at Thecus to take notice and reply with an update on what is happening. I don't know about the blanket response "Please return for an RMA" because they seem to be doing this at the drop of a hat. Problem is that we can not get any reply. I sent in a request for help over a week ago and have had nothing but static. Someone else suggested that it may be because they are very busy trying to sort out problems with this product, but I thought that was what the testing phase of any new product should be for. Not so that we, the paying public, should have to act as free BETA testers. It's not really good enough. bmak

I agree bmak,
I received the unit just after Jan 1. It took me nearly 2 weeks to get a return authorization for the unit. Fortunately, I don't have to send across the country (Australia) from whence it came. There is a local Thecus distributor here in Perth. But, still, it's been a month so far without a working unit. Not happy.
