Dear all, I have purchased a new Linux based Satellite receiver and within this I have mounted the Thecus shared drives with CIFS. Mounting went great and I can surf around the directories. Problem is that when I try to access a file I get following error message in the log files :"CIFS VFS: Send error in read = -13". I have googled it and came up with this interresting thread: www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=100193If you look on the last page it states that there is an issue with the Thecus Firmware. Has anyone noticed this error too? Is there any possibility to overcome this? Thanks for any response.

Hi oreos, your dbox/dreambox can handle nfs as well as cifs. E.g. give nfs a try!

I thought of it but honestly speaking I was a bit confused by the configuration of the NFS module on the Thecus relating to the meaning of the UID mapping and the subnet setting.
I will give it a try though tomorrow.
Thanks for the input!

So,
I installed the NFS module and after a lot of twiggling around I got it to work with one issue though:
NFSD Module configuration:
Directory: /Media (not as /raid/Media) on Node: 192.168.1.0/24 and with UID mapping on a user name I created which has access rights rw on the /Media directory (created per web interface).
IP of my N2100 is 192.168.1.100 IP of my router is 192.168.1.1
My mount command is: mount -t nfs 192.168.1.100:/raid/Media /test (whereas /test is a directory I created on my Dreambox linux machine
After the directory is mounted the browsing and access to files works fine BUT: Mounting procedure takes anything from 80 to 120 seconds which I believe is too long! Unmounting with umount /test is again done within less than a second...
Any idea why this is happening? With the CIFS mount it went within less than a second, even if afterwards there was an issue reading the files.
Additional info: I tried to set up the NFS module by naming the directory /raid/Media but somehow this didn't work at all.
Many thanks for any feedback!

For me it looks like your device is doing a reverse name lookup and runs into a timeout.
Try to define your linux host in DNS......

I actually found the solution in google just now. It has to do with the fact that there is no lockd daemon running on the Thecus. If you mount with the option "-o nolock" then this works fine.
The best thing would be if the developer of the NFSD module would also install the lockd daemon and start it. Would this be feasable?
Many thanks!
