Sorry, didn't see the page 2 of this discussion... Ok, done. I now have my webpage back up, I disabled the offending module and my folder page is blank so I did the system check, it rebooted, and started and it says error -1 File system check failed. I ran the system check a 2nd time and it seems to be working this time. Not sure, I will report back later which the results. Thanks Andreas! You should get paid by Thecus (who never called, email or anything btw). Dunno about you guys I am definitely collecting all this together for a bkm! Omega, any ideas what happened to my group file, should I be worried? Also does anyone know how long these system scans take?

System scan is still going but at least I have web access.
I set a new IP.
Folders and groups/users are still blank. UPS&Time are unsettable, I can set them but they always reset.
Unit description is also unsettable.
Doesn't seem like a hardware problem, all drives seems to check out.
Thoughts?

Nice to hear from you! I didn't intentionally change my root password if I did. I still have able to get in using Putty with a sys/sys account/password. Are you also no able to get the web interface working because my shares and web front end aren't working. The LCD is displaying and says everything is fine but none of the front buttons do anything. Keep me in the loop if you make any headway because I am getting no where and Thecus is missing in action. Omega, any ideas? Sorry, I haven't had any luck. I ran fsck but grew tired of waiting for it to complete. First my folders disappeared, now all have disappeared. Joining to AD I get some incomprehensible message describing how the task failed successfully. The fsck output is great too: The FileSystem Check is done. This work have something error. The System Volumn result code is "". The System Volumn result massage is "". The Data Volumn result code is "32". The Data Volumn result massage is "File system check canceled by user request.". I really didn't expect to be a beta-tester here Oh well. I am still loving the thing but nowhere near trusting it with data. Good luck resolving your issue!

Oh also does anyone know where the front LCD gets it's WAN info, it is saying N/A instead of IP.

Perhaps it's the geek in me but I enjoy technical problems like this because I learn a lot! I wouldn't recommend one of these NAS units to a non-techie but with it potential I expect some teething problems. Good luck...

Ok, File check complete no errors...this is good, now for what still seems broken.
Folder page is complete blank, I can't add shares or anything it is just a blank page I have to back from to get out of.
Time: It lets me set the time but doesn't save where I was to sync with.
UPS does the same thing, I can set it up, and accept but it says it was successful but when I go back to UPS, nothing is set again and it's disabled.
Info is the same way.
WAN is blank but it did take the new IP settings and SSD daemon moved with it. The WAN setting also don't show on the front LCD like they used to.
Services are all blank thought I suspect Secure HTTP is set because my browser connects with an HTTPS.
Everything in Accounts is empty.
Notification also doesn't allow it to be set, it accepts and returns to an unfilled form.
Wow, something definitely went boom!
I am thinking about re-applying the new 1.00.07 ( I think that's where my mess started), but wanted to check first...
Thoughts guys?

Oh ya, one more weird one, I can't set the Admin password. It keeps blanking it.
Maybe I should hire a priest about now...

Thinking about how I applied modules just before finding out about the new Firmware, could all this have been caused by having the IMGDUP module running while applying the new firmware?
If it could then maybe we should put a warning to at least disable it before attempting a firmware upgrade.
As for me; live and learn.

Hmm in info, Product and producer both show an error.
Also Info doesn't work unless the IMGDUP is enabled...that might be normal though.

No, INFO doesn't depend on the IMGDUP module....
But if it works when the IMGDUP module is active, this means that your real /img directory tree is corrupted.
And yes, you need to uninstall the IMGDUP module before doing the upgrade. This issue was already discovered and discussed here and a warning was added on the modules page on the Thecus Wiki. But now I see that I wrote "disable" where it should be "uninstall" - I will change the note at the Wiki now....
So now uninstall the IMGDUP module and do the upgrade to 1.00.07 again. It is be possible that you have already lost most of your settings so you need to configure them again.....

Ok, re-applied the firmware. I am ok with needing to reapply settings and recreate user groups. I need to get back my folders page, it is still just a blank white page with nothing in it. Also I need to get back the ability to set things, it keeps letting me apply things but just resets them when I return to that setting page such as UPS, Admin password, time...well all the settings listed above. I think the logical way is I will need to recreate what ever config page allows for folders and shares, once I have that I can upload copies of the the rest of the corrupted pages by upload. Ya put that uninstall warning in big bold letters! On the other hand this was a terrific way to see how different pages are used by the OS and gives me a bunch of ideas of how modifying different ones will give me new or different features. Again in some weird way this was kinda a fun adventure! Thanks again Omega, sorry about being a multi-day newbie project...

Do you have ssh access to your device?
When you say that the folders page is blank, do you mean it is totally blank or there are no folders (shares) shown?
In the latter case I could post a general smb.conf configuration file where you can add your existing folders.
The other question why changing your configuration isn't persistent is even harder to answer. All configuration settings are stored in a sqlite DB /app/cfg/conf.db. If this database is corrupted, storing or changing data is not possible any more and as far as I understand the scripts, these errors wouldn't be shown.....
One more question: did you saved your system configuration before the first upgrade attempt? Everything what is important should be in that save file. You could try to upload that configuration...

Yes, I have ssh access.
I mean totally completely blank!
Can I over write my DB file with a new one?
I didn't save a backup file.
Thanks.

I needn't tell you that it wasn't a good idea not to backup your configuration.... In order to start with a virgin sqlite config DB, there is a file /app/default.tar.gz which contains default files for all configuration files. You can unpack that file with the command tar xvzf /app/default.tar.gz -C /tmpYou'll find then all of the files in /tmp/app/...... The default conf.db file is then here: /tmp/app/cfg.db. You can copy it to the real place with these commands: cp /app/cfg/conf.db /app/cfg/conf.db.oldcp /tmp/app/cfg/conf.db /app/cfg/conf.dbI hope this helps you somehow. Andreas
