Hi Andreas,
The other error is due to the fact that the rsync binary is not found on the N5200. I might have not tested this scenario so this needs to be fixed....
But I'm using the sys@192.168.7.65::mira-backups on a dialy basis without problems...
Andreas
when run from the local machine and files get transfered to the N5200 (not in daemon mode) the rsync needs to be started on the remote side (N5200 in this case) and fails because of the path. This is the same as starting the transfer on the N5200 side, but here, I can start the command by calling the whole path, ie. /raid/data/module/RSYNC/system/bin/rsync -av source dest
So I tried to use the daemon, but there I've run into the other problems. The main issue seems to be that the rsync daemon is restarted, and I don't know what is killing it. When running it from the commandline and it is restared, the ongoing transfer is also killed
I've found a solution that is working for me: The RSYNC module is disabled through the module mgmt. It is still possible to run it from the commandline, and it had not been killed.
I would still be interested to find out why the daemon is being restarted. It seems to be very regular, every five minutes. Here is a tail -f /var/log/rsyncd.log taken when there was no rsync activity:
root@127.0.0.1:/var1/log# tail /var/log/rsyncd.log -f

I enabled the module at 20:08:27, and starting from 20:10:24 it restarts every 5 minutes. Is there a cronjob doing this?
thecus N5200 is running firmware 1.00.07 and my server runs debian sarge, the rsync version on the server is 2.6.4
