Hello mumin, welcome to the forum For me it is quite hard to understand what you mean.... so I need to ask you for more details/examples.... Why do you think you're having problems with NFS V3? What is failing? Can you give an example? So on the N5200 lockd and rpc.statd are running. What do you mean by "possibel change NFS v3 with lockd and rpc.statd"? If you want to use an NFS V2 connection, you need to tell this on your AIX computer when mounting the NFS exported directory. This is a NFS mount command I'm using on my computer: mount -o tcp,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,nfsvers=3,intr N5200:/raid/data/MYSHARE /mnt So if you want to mount it with NFS V2 then just replace nfsvers=3 with nfsvers=2. This should be working on AIX too. CU Andreas BTW: what firmware version are you using?

Hello mumin, welcome to the forum thanks Why do you think you're having problems with NFS V3? What is failing? Can you give an example? Yes,I start my CAD - Programm go to the share and cannot load the File ! Message is "reserved member cannot read or write File" touch cp or delete in Xterm ,no Problem So on the N5200 lockd and rpc.statd are running. sure ? If you want to use an NFS V2 connection, you need to tell this on your AIX computer when mounting the NFS exported directory. Yes I have done its not better This is a NFS mount command I'm using on my computer: mount -o tcp,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,nfsvers=3,intr N5200:/raid/data/MYSHARE /mnt BTW: what firmware version are you using? 1.00.05 thanks

Mimin, please edit your post so that your answers are not inside the quotes. It makes reading your answers too complicated.
But for your answers:
These are the NFS related procs running on my N5200:
2393 root 440 S /opt/nfs-utils/sbin/rpc.rquotad 2404 root 476 S /opt/nfs-utils/sbin/rpc.mountd 2395 root SW [nfsd] 2396 root SW [nfsd] 2397 root SW [nfsd] 2398 root SW [nfsd] 2399 root SW [nfsd] 2400 root SW [nfsd] 2401 root SW [nfsd] 2402 root SW [nfsd] 2406 root SW [lockd] 2410 root SW< [rpciod/0] 2505 root 528 S /opt/nfs-utils/sbin/rpc.idmapd
The statd is part of the lockd which itself is part of the kernel NFS (as far as I know).
What are you telling it seems you're just having problems with file permissions.
What are your settings for the shares? Did you configure NFS root access? What are the file permissions of the files?
It is very hard to help you if you don't provide any examples what is going wrong or provide more details.
I was not having any problems with NFS up to now.

Hello Omega Here Step by Step When I mount NFS - Filesystem from NAS N5200 AIX send this message Mount: 1831-008 , VMOUNT:Operation not allowed #When i set this with nfso command in AIX nfso -o nfs_use_reserved_ports=1 Mount is ok ! I think here is my Problem ! Linux set option "secure" on a NFS-Filesystem. The NFS-Dämon set Portnumber <1024 on Linux ! AIX read from Portnumber >1024 !! NFS - Shares exported from Suse Linux with this Option insecure works Perfekt /modelle3/ \ Workstation (ro,no_root_squash,insecure) Any Idea ? Thanks

Hi mumin,
fine, you answered your question yourself.
If you need the insecure option in order to mount NFS exported directories, just edit the file /etc/exports and add that option. I've checked the rpc.mountd exe and it seems to support it.

Hi mumin It's in the Wiki onbeat.dk/thecus/index.php/N5200_Module_(before_1.00.06):_SSHD. Install Omega's SSH, AUTOSTART, and SYSUSER modules for pre 1.00.06 firmware and you'll have SSH access. Once you have that you can do a quick Google search for "vi basics" and use vi to edit the files you want to. The Wiki is your friend! ;D Cheers

Mumin, without SSH access and without knowledge on how to edit a file with vi editor: no chance, sorry! So install the SSHD and SYSUSER packages and edit the file manually and try if this really helps your situation. If you need some instructions on how to edit the file I could give you some instructions. Andreas

Sorry, I've no idea at the moment and very less time...
Did you try to install one of the other modules? Are all of them giving you error messages?
What else did you try?
In general, please try to be more specific. It is very hard to imagine what's going on without getting as much details as possible.
Unfortunately I'm having no access to a N5200 with firmware 1.00.05 any more so I cannot really try to reproduce what you experiencing.
Why are you not upgrading to 1.00.06.5?
Andreas

Hi,
Ive got the same problem as mumin. I downloaded autostart 1.0, Sysuser 1.0 and SSHD 1.0. The install of autostart and sysuser went fine, but when installing sshd I get an error "System firmware upgrade fail" There is no more information. I rebooted and tried it again, same behavior.
[EDIT] how stable is 1.00.06.5, since it is a beta and no release document, but a warning to use it with care?
regards,
Manfred

Hi, [EDIT] how stable is 1.00.06.5, since it is a beta and no release document, but a warning to use it with care? Hi Manfred I've found it to be very stable and definitely worth upgrading to. I read in another post that 1.00.07 is going to be released next week tho so might be worth waiting for that if you're that nervous about it. Cheers
