I've heard Thecus will have iSCSI verision next year.
Just wonder what you guys use your N5200 for and is iSCSI really necessory?

iSCSI not really necessary, but...why not? Vista has built-in support.

I wouldn't deny iscsi-support on my box.
That means a block-device. Which means whatever filesystem the client supports. * NTFS with its accesscontrol * Reiserfs or anything else from linux * Encrypted filesystems * Anything
It would increase the possible market for Thecus alot.

It looks like Thecus has already started playing with it. I have 1.00.05 on mine and when I SSH into it, I can see that the config and initd for the iSCSI target is already there and configured. The actual binaries have been deleted of course, so I am going to have to manually add it back, but I hope to be able to test it soon, just need to compile a compatible version.

Did anyone have any results playing with iSCSI on the thecus? Does anyone know how to get the hand on the binaries for iSCSI?
Thanks Andreas

kniteowl I can only find one file in 1.00.05 which is iSCSI related: /etc/ietd.conf - nothing more.... Did you find anything more? Did you take any further steps in getting iSCSI working? nttakrI checked what is available for getting iSCSI to work - nothing that can be used.... The N5200 is using kernel 2.6.13 and requires open-iscsi 1.0-485 (see www.open-iscsi.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl/Supported_Kernels). It should be possible to build and install it, but I don't have the time to do it though. Andreas

I give it a little try, but found out that they took out the crc32c stuff, so I will need to get that first. I won't have time to recompile for the correct version till next week sometimes. I will know better then. Are you sure that it is open-iscsi 1.0-485 that they are using??? From the config file and the start script, it points me to IET instead. It can be found at iscsitarget.sourceforge.net/I currently have ubuntu running IET on it and it works good for me. I was hoping to just copy the files over, but without crc32c compiled for the kernel, it did not work. I need to get that first, before more testing can be done. Teng
