After upgrading to 2.00.04 nsync seems not working in my case. I use nsync for syncing to an legacy ftp server - it was working well with FW 2.00.01, but the night after upgrading the nsync tasks started, but never finished. Using the Test button a timout failure is generated.
No idea at the moment where to look - any suggestions?
This is my backup scenario, so I'm a little setup and hope there will be no disk failure on the N5200 (I'm running RAID5)
Update: after some tests I found, that files in the root of the selected folder are copied. Folders bellow the root - and files within these folders - are not copied.

Thanks for testing and reporting. Pretty important issue, if you'd ask me...
/off-topic: It's getting a bit annoying: With (almost) every new firmware revision they break at least one functionality. Why not test it more thoroughly? People depend on the product reliability ffs !!!

Thecus Support has written an email, that the last release candidate for 2.00.04 was tested on this and had no issues. Seems that someone has changed something then afterwards. I'm now almost 30 years in the software business and such things happens always - thats "Murphies law"
And yes, it's an important issue, cause nsync is used for backups - actually it's the only one possibility which is build in.

I have a problem that is quite similar to the one you described. I just bought a N5200Pro and had a special disk setup in mind: Three disks configured as a RAID 5 and one disk on which all the data is copied once a week and which is plugged in only during the time of backup so that it can be stored in a secure place at all other times. First thing I did was updating the firmware to 2.00.04, then I configured the device and set up nsync so that it points to the devices own IP-address. The connection test works, the backup progress starts, but it never finishes. It seems to hang once it reaches the third or fourth folder level for the first time . I hope this gets fixed in the very near future, because data safety is very important for me. Another thing I noticed is that there seems to be no option to enable the snapshot feature anywhere in the WebDisk interface . Has this been disabled in one of the last fimware versions? If so, does anybody know if it will be back one day?

Thecus support has provided a solution for me, but asked me not to distribute it - OK, I will follow their wish. The solution works here with a legacy ftp server - still some minor issues, but files are synced.
If You use nsync then please contact thecus support direct via ticket or mail. You may want to use the ticket number I have opened as refenence (JNX-82292-361).

Hello Peter!
I have an open ticket for the nsync task too. KPS-70010-360; But Thecus has not answer.
You write the solution that Thecus send to you works with a legacy ftp-server. You have tested if the nsync task works if the Thecus N5200 is the server?
Best regards, Thorsten :-)

Hi Thorsten, no -. I have not tested it with an N5200 as server, but I assume it's the same problme - the only difference I see between using an legaciy server or another N5200 is, that for a N5200 connection an VPN with an preconfigured key is opened and then the ftp session via this VPN is established. So i would assume it works also not on a N5200 to N5200 communication. br Peter
