The firmware 2.00.01 seems to be officially available. Unfortunately there are no release notes and for me it is not clear if this firmware should be used for N5200PRO or N5200 or both of them I really hope that Thecus will post some clarifications about this and provide a release note.... Andreas

Does not look official to me since it does not show up on the official download pages (only in the /Download/ area). No idea why Thecus posts this one here (may be it contains a fixup for someone having problems with 2.00.00.11 but can't wait until 2.x comes out). So, do not expect release notes From the content it stays somewhere between 2.00.00.11 and the last beta 2.00.02.01 with iSCSI limit set to "1" (PRO only) For the N5200 (nonPro) users: No iSCSI support /Falk

Reading at hexus forum, looks like it fixes a NFS problem. I wish they had a changelog just so you know whats different.

Well got around to upgrading my N5200B from 2.00.00 to 2.00.01. Only one small problem, after reboot, RAID was degraded. Looks like a disk wasn't ready when it went to start the RAID. It rebuilt with the hot spare. I swapped it back around, and haven't been able to reproduce the problem with the drive that got dropped. SYSUSER, SSHD and INFO installed, but like georg54 INFO reports incorrect on somethings. No other problems atm.

It only removes this flag as it unmounts the disk. If the unit happened to miss a proper shutdown or the disk was pulled or any other situation that cuts the connection to the disk before it can be unmounted... you will boot up to a degraded disk. I managed to do this to an entire array of disks (not on a Thecus box) due to a power outtage. Not a huge problem but it is slow to let it rebuild the array.

New Info / 30. August- upgrading my n5200 from FW 1.00.10 to 2.00.01 - Module INFO: I informed Andreas (omega). he did not install the version 2.00.01 yet.. If You have ssh access: Change in the file /raid/data/module/INFO/www/index.htm the raid device from /dev/md0 to /dev/md1 - FW 2.00.01 has now the data on /dev/md1. Then INFO module will display then correct data for Your raid br Peter PS : have informed Andreas (omega) with pm

Did anyone re-create their RAID after the upgrade to 2.00.01and got a speed increase? I was reading here forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=117273 and in short "Summary above issue, we would recommend update to V2.00.01, than backup file and re-create the RAID system, since V2.00.01 we change the file system structure to increase perofrmance and stability."

hi glo8al, from Fw 1.00.10 to 2.00.01 as I already wrote, - Migrate the raid from raid5 (hot spare) to raid5 (no hot spare)... test it with 30% switch off/on and... no problem (continues working)!! And waited a long long time before everything was finished. - because of the problem USHARE.... i kill the raid... thecususergroup.proboards106.com/index.cgi?board=n5200modifications&action=display&thread=1188585325- now i use 256 KB chunks - Filesystem /dev/vg0/lv0 mounted /dev/raid0/data - Filesystem /dev/vg0/syslv mounted on /dev/raid0/sys - LVM volume group - EXT3 FS (standard check intervall 6 month or 29 mount count) - Linux N5200 2.6.13N5200 i686 Kernel operating system version #135 Jun 22 (gcc Version 3.3.6) I hope, everything is correct! - INFO Problem: i change Module INFO index.htm to /dev/md1 I think, it is faster. but like test I it? you have a test for n5200 (benchmark)? br Georg

Hi all.
Got in on this thread a little late but.............
To sum up:- Are we saying that FW 2.00.01 is the same as FW2.00.00.11 but with the Iscsi functionality removed?
I have downloaded the first from the Thecus site, and the second from "Rapidstore" (thanks to the poster).
Are there any probs with 2.00.00.11 that have been bug fixed in 2.00.01 when the Iscsi functionality was removed?
Or can I press on and upgrade to 2.00.00.11 to get Iscsi without fear of problems? I am currently running 2.00.00 which seems to work well.
Thanks, Jet.

Hi Jet,
Fw 2.00.01 not 2.00.10
Fw 2.00.00.11 (Beta Fw) Fw 2.00.01 i think no beta, but there is no description
Yes, Iscsi functionality was removed for N5200

Thanks George54 Spotted the typo and corrected it to 2.00.01 but you must be fast. you got that reply in before I could hit the modify button! Could somebody quickly fill me in on the advantages (or not) of IScsi. I am running Vista on two main machines and Win XP Pro on my Laptop. Cheers, Jet.

Update.
Just taken the plunge and flashed my N5200 with FW2.00.00.10.
Took only a few minutes (thanks again File Store poster). The box has now rebooted and seems fine - so far. All folders are where they were, RAID is intact and showing fully healthy with no errors reported.
Just going to do some research on Iscsi and will consider converting.
Has anybody out there run Iscsi yet? what are the pro's and con's?
Thanks, jet.

Yeah, I'm running iSCSI on my box, works a treat, writing to the array drive is much slower that local drives unsurprisingly, but you don't notice a thing as far as reading from it, and that's with a 100mb net connection, as I don't have a gigabit switch at home.
