Hi,
in order to write my posting for Razzleultra I connected an USB disk to my N5200 and it is still connected. Now I wanted to access the "Module Mgmt" page and the entry is not available any more in the "System" pulldown menu.
So, as always in that kind of situation, I consulted again the definite manual - the source code - and the bug is in the file /img/www/htdocs/adm/menu/menu-footer.html.
There is some logic there whether to display the "Module Mgmt" entry or not. And that logic is wrong.
One precondition for showing the module management entry, /raid/data needs to be mounted. This check is done by this command:
df | awk -F " " '/data/ {print $6}'
Despite the fact that the -F flag is not needed in this case, the search for a line containing "data" results in at least two lines when a USB disk is mounted.
I would suggest this command as a bug fix:
df | awk '/\/raid\/data$/ { print $6 }'
as this command really does what it is supposed to do. It would be more error prone to check the complete path as the compare later compares against /raid/data.
Conclusion: with the current firmware 1.00.06.5 you cannot access the module management as long as there are any mounted filesystems on external USB drives. The same most likely applies to external attached eSATA drives too, but I haven't checked this.
As a workaround detach all your external attached drives whenever you want to access the module management.
For those who are using the IMGDUP module, just edit the buggy file and correct that single line as I described above. I've done it and it works for me. If you need more details, don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Andreas,
I just installed my first N5200 last week and have been using your modules with pleasure. Updating the awk arguements as you suggested allowed my 1.00.06.5 firmware to display the module management menu item. Prior to this it was necessary to manually type the URL http://$HOST/adm/getform.html?name=module
Additionally, I've found the need to update /img/bin/sysconf.txt to enable the Snapshots menu. This was as simple as changing 'snapshot=off' to 'snapshot=on'.
Thanks for the nice modules!

Hi Brendan, welcome here (so many new members the last 4 weeks... fine ) Happy that you like the modules. Why didn't you see the module management entry before? Was it that you've had an USB disks attached? I assume so, otherwise my explanation would not be 100% true. And about enabling the snapshot feature by editing sysconf.txt: I wouldn't use it as Thecus was disabling it in one of the last releases as the have had problems getting it work. This is what I remember to have read in one of their changelogs. Thanks for your feedback.... Andreas

Andreas No USB disk to blame- I have two different /data mounts: /dev/vg0/lv0 1342909576 689721928 583871452 54% /raid/data /dev/vg0/syslv 1015704 33044 930232 3% /raid/sys -Brendan

Hi Brendan, maybe I'm getting old...... but I see only one "data" in your two mount points.... Did I miss something? Andreas

Hi Brendan, maybe I'm getting old...... but I see only one "data" in your two mount points.... Andreas Now that you mention it, I was reading that as checking for /raid rather than /data. Oops. Evidently either awk syntax is now allowing the module mgmt menu item to show up. I can only assume this is in some way related to having the 'IMGDUP' module loaded. There's been no other change to the system.

Hi Brendan, almost impossible that IMGDUP is the cause that the module mgmt doesn't show up..... Every time something goes wrong the IMGDUP module is accused of being guilty...... not fair.... (only joking... ;D ) Andreas

Hi Brendan, Every time something goes wrong the IMGDUP module is accused of being guilty...... not fair.... (only joking... ;D ) Rejoice, I'm blaming IMGDUP for making something go right ;-) Not that I have scientific evidence to back it up. If I ever disable imgdup, I'll check and see if the module management menu option disappears though. -Brendan
