Hi, I'm now a proud owner of a "naked" N5200 (naked since I don't have any SATA disk here and will grab some tomorrow). I took a quick look at the device and the web interface and am now wondering about the following. - I have my netgear router set to the IP Range 192.168.1 -.254. When I connected to the netgear interface it found the N5200 and I added it to the devices it gives an IP. The N5200 beeped and I was not able to access it. When I deleted it from the Netgear device list I was able to access it. I*guess* for that to work properly I'd have to set the WAN settings of the N5200 to DHCP. Any advice or just let it be as it seems to work without me messing things up. - I didn't expect but hoped for Wake on Lan but unfortunately nothing there As this is a hardware feature, I guess future firmwares can't do much here. - Is there a way to shut the N5200 down via a batch file?Of course it can be done by using the web interface but I'd *like* to be able to shut it down remotely by doubleclicking a batch file - I plan to stick 5x500GB drives in and run as RAID5. Now I wonder if it is advisable to have an extra 500GB drive around for possible drive failures or is that too paranoid? Running XP SP2, N5200 FW:..4.10

I fear you're right.... - Is there a way to shut the N5200 down via a batch file?Of course it can be done by using the web interface but I'd *like* to be able to shut it down remotely by doubleclicking a batch file What I can offer you is a patch creating a special account reboot/shutdown which automatically reboots or shutdown the device after logging in succesfully. This means that you just need a script on your Windoze computer which makes an ssh connection - this should be easy. Tell me, if you're interested..... - I plan to stick 5x500GB drives in and run as RAID5. Now I wonder if it is advisable to have an extra 500GB drive around for possible drive failures or is that too paranoid? I wouldn't buy the spare hard disk now. You have a raid, so if one hard disk fails, you should have enough time to buy a replacement then. And the price will be cheaper..... Andreas

I'd be interested But only if it isn't too much hassle. And it isn't urgent. For now that very loud N5200 is not too far away but soon (February) we'll move into a house and there it would be of use. I didn't buy a spare disk but went ahead and bought 5x500GB and the N5200 built the Raid5 in about 8hours and I'm now filling the 2TB up Thanks for the answers and the offer!
