I have two Samsung HD400LJ in a RAID1 configuration (381,554Mb).
They seem to be ok so far.
During formatting today (probably the hottest day of summer, indoor ambient temp 29c) they rose to 57c but have now (after resting through the firmware upgrade and some network configuration) chilled to 52c.
Found this snippet of code on the net in the sata_sil.c, which is the Silicon Image 3512 driver source code. A lot of Seagate drives are in the blacklist. It seems that these drives works with Silicon Image 3512 but at a lower speed.
I was about to purchase two Seagate ST3500630AS drives for a Raid 1 configuration but I just noticed that the drive is no longer listed on the list, published on 9/29, although it was there on the list published on 9/21.
- Is anyone using this drive successfully?
I see that another user posted poor write performance with a ST3500630NS , but I'm not sure of the difference between the two.
