I have just bought a 5200 BR and have installed five samsung spinpoint 750 gig drives in the unit. I am running raid 5 over all five disks. Every thing was/is fine with the setup and I have had no issues so far. This has given me a capacity of roughly 2.8 terabytes.

Just got the Thecus, installed 5x750GB Western Digital Green drives, WD7500AACS
All drives recognized, building RAID volume right now. So far, so good.

I've got two N5200Pros, each with 5 x Hitachi HDS721010KLA330 1TB 7200rpm disks (firmware GKAO). Pretty happy with them but sometimes don't appreciate the lag I get sometimes. I work with larger enterprise storage systems and I have found myself frustrated at the lack of synchronised parity writes and also the time it takes to build an array.

Hi, I'm using five WD7500AAKS-00RBA in a RAID6 set without any issues (so far). My reason for opting for WD drives, is that over the years I've never had to replace a WD drive due to failure (maybe I've been lucky). Any WD drives I've replaced have been to increase capacity. I have tried Seagate drives in the past, but have found them to have too high a failure rate when left running 24x7x365. I had 3 fail within 6 months of being installed at various times. Compare that with my oldest currently active WD drive which has about 35,000 hours (nearly four years) clocked up on it with no errors Dave.

Nobody is using the WD Green power disk? 1TB is ok ... there are some informations in the net. But the 500GB and 750GB drives? Please write some informations if you´re using this drives. thanks, Lars I've switch my my RAID5 WD 5x750GB AAKS drives to WD 5x1TB GP drives. Have been running for the past few weeks with no problem.

Hi, I have 2 Hitachi Deskstar 1TB drives in my N5200PRO presently and I'm about to get some more drives. The Samsung Spinpoint 1TB drives have come down in price to approx 2/3 the price of the Hitachi's, is it OK to mix drives or will it cause compatability issues... should I stick to Hitachi??
cheers, David.

Bought my N5200B a month back and so far so good. I am using 5 500GB Hitachi Desktop SATA HDDs (Model HDP725050GLA360). Noticed it allows spin downs as well

I just added a Maxtor 1TB (for $179 bucks from Fry's!) and migrated from Raid0 to Raid5 with it and two 500GB drives in the array (though I didn't gain any real storage space, just data protection... I'll need to add another soon for more space.
The product number is 9DP1A8-590, it's a DiamondMax with a 32mb buffer and it seems to spin down and back up just fine.
I did update to firmware 2.0.08.

I am using 4 Samsung 1 TB Spinpoint (HD103UJ) drives ... set up in RAID 5, they built properly , are all showing to be healthy. However i get 'empty' folders a lot when trying to access the shared folders from various computers. Im not sure if thats a drive issue, a network issue, or an authentification issue of the user connecting. Its random.

Hi, I'm thinking of getting the 5200PRO, and populate it with 3-5 WD10EACS 1TB drives..
From this thread this disc seems to be supported, are there any issues I should be aware of (is the spindown problem solved?)..
Also, can I mix WD with other brand, E.g. samsung? Lastly, is it ok to mix 5400rpm drives and 7200rpms drives on the same RAID? thanks.
