I am trying to find some manner of guide to help me get the ssh module enabled for my N4100+. I am running the 2.0.03 firmware. I found a module that was labeled for the n2100, but if anyone has a link to the n4100+ version and could give me some pointers I'd appreciate it.
I was able to enable the ssh module (and the module for utils and rsync) but I am unable to login with any valid user credentials. I have rebooted the device and attempted to ssh into the NAS with no success. Does each user I create need their own folder or something before I am allowed to login?
I am going to outline all the steps I took to get this working, just in case.
1) get your n4100+ up on the network. I assigned mine a public IP, but if its on your own internal subnet just stick with whatever DHCP assigns. 2) it goes without saying that you are going to need to have the admin password so you can add users/install modules 3) I used google to locate the modules I needed, maintained by Lzimmerman 4) go to System>Module Mgmt 5) browse for the uncompressed module you want to install and click on the install button. 6) I had to refresh the page to see the module appear, then click on enable. 7) after adding and enabling the modules I was interested in I had to reboot. 8) post-reboot go back to System>Module Mgmt 9) double-click the hyperlink in the Name column. 10) you need to allow SSH logins and I had to flush SSH keys before I was allowed to login. 11) I then initialized the root password. 12) reboot was required for me 13) ssh to the public IP as a user.
Now, I personally logged in as root and then reset the root password. Then I verified that I could ssh, telnet, rsync, etc.
Now, I am gonna get rdiff-backup installed on this puppy.

THANK YOU!!! i have spent so much d**n time trying to get this working. I even repackaged after modifying the module specifically for the 4100+
Even thought about uncompressing the module and trying it that way but once i did and looked into the file structure it appeared that the css and html files might be required.. if they had a readme.txt file i would have started there but there was not.
Hopefully now i can get everything else working too.. Thanks again! Tnt

I just bought the n4100+ and immediately updated firmware to 2.00.05 for no other reason, except that it was available. OK: One valid reason is that: I was unable to join my local Samba domain. Later I resolved this issue and it had no connection to the patch.
My problem is: The patched-2100 SSH modules does not even install. After I uncompress the files and select install after choosing "SSH.mod", the screen refreshes then -- nothing.
Also: While the link says these are patched 2100 files the "install.rdf" deep inside the archive still uses "2100" for the model name.
Is there something wrong I am doing?
Any help would be appreciated.

Please ignore above request. I managed to resolve the issue. The module needed to be tarred and gzipped. Thanks.

Have just got my 4100+ and have installed last firmware 2.0.05 and setup raid5. Try to install ssh module but can't enable it in web interface.
First I got message about wrong box and find article about install.rdf changes.
Have changed install.rdf to include <md:NasType>N4100PLUS</md:NasType> and after this change I get
[Thecus]H 4.0.00 Enable SSH. as a line in Module Managment, but not possible to enable or uninstall.
If anybody have any suggestion I'm happy. Thx

Hi, I've experienced same problems as viki: Line in module management: [Thecus]H 4.0.00 Enable SSH and SFTP. No I'm not able to enable/uninstall it. When I click on description I got: Module name: H Size: 0B
I've managed to delete the module with the hint in topic: SSH Module won't uninstall or enable.
Is there an incompatibility with firmware 2.00.05 and SSH-4.0.00.
Has anyone managed to install the SSH module on 2.00.05? If yes, can someone send me the 'working' module? modify the install.rdf. tar -cvzf SSH.mod ./SSH (--> don't forget the ./ , the module won't install correctly without it) install the module. Before this you can delete the installed system as described here: topic: "SSH Module won't uninstall or enable" in Modifications. hope this helps

is only the ssh module failing or are other modules not working either?

I'm unable to install the module due to version incompatibility.
I've extracted the archive and have:
CA.html CA_files SSH.app index.html index_files sshKeyGen
I point the Thecus to SSH.app and it fails. So where is this infamous install.rdf file that I need to edit?

Anyone? Please? I really need to get this isntalled so I can check over the networking on the Thecus. I'm on a dedicated GBit switch on the same subnet and only getting 10GB/Hour transfer speeds!

Unfortunately that doesn't help. The whole problem is that the Thecus rejects the SSH.app file based on version. People talk about modifying the install.rdf file but there is no such file in that package.

The SSH module requires at least version 2.0.00 of the N4100+ firmware. What version do you have?

I've got the same problem.
I got the SSH module from freeside in the 4100+ area.
My firmware is 2.00.05.
The error is as above "Install module failed since Nas type or version not match."
I have installed "Mediabolic", "Firefly", "Print server" modules without any problem.
Any ideas anyone.
Ian
Update: went back to download site. There has been an update to the SSH module. Now installs on the 4100+.
