does it make a difference in performance, usage or anything for that matter?
The official response that I received from thecus, mentions,
" Add the memory won’t increase the speed, the worst case we encountered is, some incompatible memory modules seem work fine at normal loading, but suddenly cause NAS locked up at heavy loading. It's so bad that users may feel the memory module work but NAS is unstable. Lastly, upgrade the memory size won't increase the performance."
Any first hand feedback!?

it's should help just not a lot ..
However if your planing to use some of the modules post here it will make a difference

I think what Thecus meant is that memory will not help if you want faster transfer speed, but if you want some of the modules to run smoother, then I think more memory the merrier.
