Hello Together, I bought a year ago the Thecus N2100 as my home storage and I'm happy with it. Now I want to buy a new Thecus for my office and I'm not sure is the N2100BM just the "normal N2100" which has the Mediabolic's media server software integrated? So do they have the same firmware version?
Any other difference?
The Thecus internet site is not realy helpfull (Or maybe I'm to blind ;-) ) Thanks for your help

As far as i can see if u read the new MB manual off thecus site yes its the same as the normal 2100 but on the install cd is a Mediabolic server Module that u have to install on the Admin Module page ....
and from pervious posts on this forum the new 2.1.0.5 firmware for normal 2100 have symbolic links for the Mediabolic software so to turn a normal n2100 to a n2100mb all you need is the Mediabolic Server Software Module on the new n2100mb install CD .

Yep no diffrence excepts Thecus's stance that if you bought a N2100 your screwed. They will not allow 2100 owners to have the 2100BM software even if you were willing to pay. If your lucky youll see it on a torrent site.
Fortunately TwonkyMedia will gladly take your money while Thecus holds their death grip on the Mediabolic license. It's such a joke and a poor business model to pass up an easy revenue generator as "Thecus Upgrade Modules" for nominal fee.
Has anyone done a compare between Mediabolic and TwonkyMedia? I know that Windows Media Server does a decent job and displaying avi's and mp3's to my PlayStation3, but there are still some files that Windows does not recognize as media and I do not see. TwonkyMedia however displays everything!
