Why not N4100+ support Multiple RAID volumes? I think this function is very useful.

Why not N4100+ support Multiple RAID volumes? I think this function is very useful. That is also what i am looking for. I tried to have a RAID5 and one single Harddisk. Is there a module to have this funktion, or does anybody know how I can solve this?

hi,
raid by its nature needs a minimum of 2 drives for raid0 and raid1, stripped or mirrored.
if you want raid 5 you need a minimum of 3 disks, the data is stripped accross the drives and each drive also reserves a portion of itself to mirror(at the byte level) data from the other drives.
that way if one drive of the 3 fails it can rebuild it once a new drive is added, obviously if you have only one drive and it fails you cant rebuild it as you only have one sorce and that failed.

Also would like support for one RAID 5 and 1 JBOD, or 2 raid0/1's That would be very useful. Also could mount single drives like the USB function. Just a thought.
