I havev just got the slimmed down Slimserver module working - superb my friend.
Kudos to you.
It doesn't seem to play WMA files though. Is there anyway to add this. I see that it should but can't quite seem to get the decoder files in the right place....
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Colin

Good to hear somebody is using the module!!
Well, I'm fairly new on using SlimServer. What would you normally do in order to install support for WMA files? Can you point me to a guide, then I'll have a look on how best to implement this in the module.
Best, Mikkel

Hi, gux, I found out that /var/music was not created when I install the module. So I created the directory myself. Then I entered "iTunes" into the Music Directory textfield. Restart the server. Went to Slimserver webpage on http://N2100_IP:9000/, and it still says the music library has 0 albums.

The directory /var/music IS created by the module, but it is INSIDE the chroot. (The Debian environment that holds the SlimServer installation). SlimServer does not know of any files outside this environment, simply to protect the N2100 from being corrupted.) If you really want to check, then have a look at /raid/module/SLIMSRV/system/var/music
So, you dont need to create the directory. Instead do like this: - In the module configuration of SLIMSRV enter "iTunes" (case sentitive!!) Save it. - Now go to the native SlimServer configuration page and enter "/var/music" as Music Folder. Save configuration
Hope this helps, Mikkel

lame.sourceforge.net/download/download.html% ./configure % make % make install think it would need to be installed in the debian system (chroot) that slimserv runs off for it to work might be worth it being included in the MODULE ore installed as in my player settings under bit rate i get ( Note : Lame doesnt appear to be installed on your system ) so i cant changed the bit rate it just streams at default 320kb Bitrate Limiting SlimServer can automatically convert your music files to MP3 on-the-fly to play back other formats than MP3. SlimServer can also recompress your MP3 files to lower the bitrate of the data streamed to your player. This is useful if you are connecting your player to SlimServer across the Internet or are having intermittent problems using a wireless network. You can choose the maximum bitrate that SlimServer will stream to your player. MP3 songs encoded at a bitrate lower than below won't be converted. (Note: You do not appear to have LAME installed. SlimServer will need the LAME MP3 encoder installed on your system to do conversion to MP3. You can find out more about LAME here.)

Just to let you know. I hope I get time sometime this week to include LAME in the module. But I'm quite busy this week unfortunately...
Btw, are there any other things that should be included??

Do you think the N2100 is fast enough to do the encoding stuff?

New version of SlimServer module is out. It now includes support for LAME. See onbeat.dk/N2100/Still having trouble getting version 6.5.0 to work due to the size of the new MySQL requirement. Therefore I figured I might as well release support for LAME in 6.3.1 while working on 6.5.0. Colin, you wrote that you couldn't play WMA. This wonders me, since WMA support is built-in. Do you still have trouble playing WMA? What if you try the new module? Gotta go, in a hurry. See ya, M.
