Our Thecus N2200 NAS (Basic Details Below) is performing really slow when it comes to browsing files and folders and attaching files to emails.
As a test I have tried browsing the same folders and attaching the same files to emails on different computers using different versions of Microsoft outlook and the performance is the same.
I then moved some files and folders to our Win2k8 Server and tried the same thing and the performance was a hell of a lot better.
When you open a folder and the “View” Is set to thumbnails it can take several minutes for all the thumbnails to appear, and this can be a folder with a max of 100 jpeg files in it that are no bigger then say 600kb in size.
When you attach a 2mb pdf to an email it can take several minutes before the attachment is completed and you can continue to work on your email.
I don’t believe it has anything to do with the computer or network as I have tried different computers with different versions of outlook and it is always the same.
I was wondering if there is anything I can check on the NAS device to tell me what may be causing the problem?
I did have an nsync schedule set up to sync to another N2200 device but I have stopped this as well as run a disc check, but it didn’t help.
Disc power management is of as well, I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it.
The RAID is set up as RAID 1 with a stripe size f 64K and the file system is XFS
Any ideas?
