I have a serious problem with the N2200Plus in that users on Windows 7 systems can't copy files stored on N2200Plus SMB shares back to their local folders.
The windows error does not provide any additional information (e.g. error number) but simply states "There is a problem accessing \\N2200Plus\Utilities Make sure you are connected to the network and try again". There is no additional information in the N2200Plus log or the Windows event logs. The problem can be reproduced with new N2200Plus SMB shares.
To try and isolate the problem I also tested with a MacBook Pro running OS X v 10.6.7. The same N2200Plus SMB share was mapped from the Mac and I was able to able to copy the same files to the local MacBook Pro disk with no errors. To see if it was a generic problem with Windows 7 and SMB shares I created a SMB share on the MacBook Pro. This was mapped by a Windows 7 user who was then able to copy the files from the Mac SMB share to their local disk without any errors.
This indicates that there is an issue with the N2200Plus when accessed by Windows 7 systems. The issue is trying to copy files from the N2200Plus to the Windows 7 systems. There is no error when copying files from the Windows 7 system to the N2200Plus SMB shares.
I reported the issue the Thecus tech support on the 22nd of May. I am still waiting for a fix.
The Windows 7 systems are a mixture of 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium and 64 bit Windows 7 Professional. All systems have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and the latest patches. The N2200Plus is running the latest firmware V1.00.00.43.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
