Well i have the Problem since i got it as a present. Its just slow ... the hdparm shows me a speed of 500 mb/s .. its correctly connected .. and all devices on the network deliver me files with at least 5 MegaByte/s (for example my Linux based dvb-receiver) the only device making my trouble is the n2100 .. i really tried a lot .. but it wont get faster .. The FTP-Server delivers the same bad Performance like Samba.
Well my personal guess would be the Network-Driver .. (firmware 2.0.1.10) i mean .. its also slow if i use a cross-over cable .. and its also slow if try to download a file using my dvb-receiver .. (linux -> linux ... 630 kb/s using ftp)
i noticed there a several people having this kind of issue .. anyone found a solution??

I had this problem back in my old flat, and i put it down to wireless lan performance not the n2100 as it all changed when i used wired connections.
I think there were some samba updates int he latest beta firmware. That could be worth a try?

i already tried the latest beta firmware 2.0.1.11.4 .. doesnt help .. well i wish it would be just a wire/wireless problem :-) but even if i got a peak value of 1 megabyte/sec. this would mean 10 ~ 12 MegaBit / Sek. *g*.. that's not so good ale .. well i am also quite confused about this problem.
well as you already mentioned the wireless could be a slowing down .. (85 mbit wlan) .. but it delivers me 5 megabyte/sec. from my dvb-receiver .. so i'am pretty sure that the wires and non-wires *g* are not the problem.
it looks more like the network-driver-link is running at 10 mbit .. mhm thats all strange .. perhaps i should call mulder and skully ..
well i would need something like ethtool ...

I was not using the N2100 except for fairly small backups until late last year when I copied over a lot of music files. The network copy did seem to take a long time but I had nothing to compare it to at the time. Since then I have purchased a N2200Plus and the difference in performance is amazing. It is at least twice as fast.
My network is still the same so it indicates that the N2100 is quite slow. It's not a memory issue as I had upgraded the N2100 to 512Mb and the N2200Plus only has 256Mb.
