In a nutshell, I'm trying to access these hard drives via Windows' network like you'd access an external hard drive via My Computer.
I'm pretty good with computers, but I don't have any experience with networks or servers.
I purchased a N4100PRO and 4x 2TB HDDs thinking it would be like an *massive* external hard drive, only connected to a router so everybody could share it, except I can't access it except through the web interface which is horrible to say the least (can't transfer 1 folder to another folder for instance).
I did my homework, I looked here on this forum, didn't find anything. I went to the manual (Samba / CIFS specifically) which is written in broken English, so some of it doesn't make any sense, but I turned all the Samba / CIFS settings on anyway.
Basically I have the N4100PRO set up with raid 5, 4 2TB HDDs, and hooked up to a quality wireless router. I installed Firmware v3.04.03. I've also created several folders and several users, and gave them permissions. As for my computer, I'm using windows 7.
I can see the N4100PRO now in my network under "Other Devices", but that just takes me to the webpage, 192.168.1.100.
When I tried to map a network drive to it (I'm typing in \\192.168.1.100 ) it says Windows can not access 192.168.1.100.
I'm out of ideas and I've been working on this for about a week, please help.
