My knowledge has fallen down on this issue, and hoping someone can advise, as it's probably an easy question for advanced users.
I noticed when moving files around on the N2200 between Network shares, that it would take hours, rather than moving them instantly. I had read somewhere that it is easiest to move large files around using FTP. That part was correct, the files successfully moved instantly without having to copy etc.
My problem is, that when I now access these new directories, all I can see is the folders. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw my photo folder only containing folders, however when I went back through FTP (using FileZilla), all the files were still there. (** I moved the files over with UTF-8 etc, and made the new Shares Public etc, however they did come from a Network Share that was Private. I could understand if this was the only problem, but the wierd part is that some folders did work, and I can see the files as well as folder, but only with some folders..., and from memory the new Public Network shares that I made were all made with the same properties at the same time.)
Can anyone advise what I did wrong, or what I need to do to correct the situation???
I have a sneaking suspicion that when I copied the files over from a private folder to a public folder, they kept those file permissions. Do I need to copy those folders back into the directory where they came from, so they they inherit the right file permissions back. If so, I will still be stuck how to move them instantly while keeping their file permissions like I was in the first place. Is there a way to change this while they are in the current directory? I am still lost why some folders that were moved still have files in them that can be seen by Windows, while others can't.
Thanks in advance
