I put a WebCam Logitech in a USB port of N2200, and tried to configure it, but without success. With the module Simple_Surveillance, I can only configure IP WebCam (I don't have it). However, N2200 is announced to support a WebCam usb.
How to do it ? I tried to find the doc without succes too !
Thanks for your help.

Yes, I am having the same problem with the N2200 and a USB Webcam to be honest.
I have even tried downloading the updated version, Simple Surveillance 2.01 without any luck. You are right it is marketted as being able to support both Web and IP cams, however I have not found a module that works on the Thecus N2200 for Webcams.
The only thing I can think of is using an open source program like Dorgem to save files onto the N2200, however I would need to leave a PC on for that, which sort of defeats the purpose.
Let me know if you have any luck anyway.

Hi both,
Just in case it helps,
I put a webcam - logitech in my N2200.
It wouldn;t show up in the preview displays of the webcam pages
BUT
if I setup the schedule of taking images - they did show up in the folder i specified.
Matt
ps I stuffed up my NAS at teh moment so can't look at the settings but try me and I will see if I remember what I clicked!

hey thanks for the tip Matt.
You are correct, because there was no display on the config page where it looks like there should be an image, I just assumed that it was not working.
I will retry over the next few days and get back to here. I feel silly not trying the schedule regardless, however it didn't look like the camera (logitech quickcam pro) was acknowledged. Thanks again for the tip.
Cheers, Richard

No, alas, no luck When I set up the schedule, it said when I click apply, that it was set up successfully. It still said that webcam was not connected when I went to look at the preview screen like we discussed above. I was using a Logitech Quickcam Pro or whatever the top model was. The Thecus did seem to make a folder caller "Webcam" in the "_NAS_Picture_" folder, however there was nothing in there. I even checked with filezilla in case, but the folder was empty. So I am at a dead end again. I am not sure how you got your working. What model logitech webcam do you have? Also is there a webcam support list anywhere? Thanks in advance for any advice, I really want to work this one out.

thanks grisu70 for the feedback. With this information and that from matthuck, I will buy a different model webcam and try again...
One more question.... did that USB Webcam work through a powered USB hub? I would like to hook up several (plus have HDDs in other USB ports on N2200), or does it only support one webcam and/or one IP cam (I admit too lazy to read manual to check here, but rather trust users anyway on this issue)?
In the meantime I have researched a Vivotek IP 137, a Dlink DCS-2121, or a Linksys WVC80 which looked like the cheapest IP camera that I could find, and they all had WLAN. Just need some cheap <$200 basic security for when I am on holidays. If anyone has any tips that could save me time, please let me know on models that work well with Thecus.

just to follow up
I gave up with webcams - terrible image quality.
I boufght a GranTec wifi netcam. Image is not great but works better. Definitely works with recording images etc - just configured a default network cam profile and pointed to the cameras internal ip address.
Hope that is helpful?

I might be a little off topic here.. but does anyone know what happens when you turn the recording on all the time, and run out of space on the N2100? Can you set a limit on the disk space that is used for the surveillance server?
Thanks in advance
