I have just purchased a used 2x500GB N2100. I fired it up today, and have been unable to access it either by direct connection (via web browser or setup wizard) after resetting multiple times, to a default of 192.168.1.100 as per the manual. I have also tried with connection via router (set up as 192.168.1.1) by both methods to no avail. In all cases, I complete all connections and then fire up the N2100. The previous owner said it was fine and in use prior to shipping - but isn't that ALWAYS the case....
Upon intializing, the unit powers up with power LED blue, the fan spins up, then shuts off (and yes, I know of this feature). No matter how long the units remains on, the fan never spins - even as the drives get hot.
Through either connection type, the Lan1 status flashes intermittently when I try accessing by both methods, so it's like they are talking, but only in one direction. The computer registers 0 packets received from the N2100 when connected directly.
I followed the troubleshooting in the manual to the letter, and could only draw the conclusion that the unit had a bad flash or is defective in some other way. The manual does state to change the IP of the directly connected computer to 192.168.1.111, but does not state and mask or gateway settings (assuming they are 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.1.1 respectively). It also does not mention using a crossover cable, so I'm using a standard cable.
Please help. I need to determine whether the unit is defective to chase my money down.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
what about the "power LED" after turning on the device. It should blink about 1 minute and then be on constantly. Is this the case?
