Thought I buy a little and low power consuming device for streaming my mp3 archive and saw in a advertisment the N0204. Ordered it and .... big mistake.
It took nearly two days to configure the NAS with one harddrive, problems without an end:
* It was not possible to configure the n0204 which I connected to a switch.
* After connecting it with a crosscable directly at my desktop it was possible to ping it, but the included software crashed with my WIN-XP SP3.
* After deactivating my firewall and the virus scanner it was possible on a WIN7-Notebook to run the smart tool.
* OK, I thought, now it´s working. Wrong. After I´ve copied my mp3-archive to the NAS and activated the media server the NAS worked with 100% for hours. Downloaded the latest firmware and installed it.
* Day 3: The cpu load was still at 100% and only 1/3 of my archive was visible on my Roku Soundbridge.
* Found a hint in a forum that the media software isn´t the best and it is necessary to delete all non MP3 files. Done, but no success.
* Day 4: Ordered a Buffalo Linkstation Mini, got it, nearly 1 hour later is was ready to be filled with MP3s and since 1 week it´s working without any problems.
* Yesterday I tried to make out of my N0204 a little NAS for backups. Built in a second 2,5" drive to have a Raid 1. No way. It is not possible to do anything with this little box: Firmware (v3.00.07E) doesn´t fit with the wizard (v1.00) which was included with the cd, there´s no newer version available. Smart Tool (v1.00.12) finished with a "ROM not found", and doesn´t care of any firmware-file included in the program dir.
Thecus: be sure, this were the last bucks I spend for a device of your company, ... (ok, you know I want to say).
At the moment I´m only frustrated!
Regards
Norbert
