This is what the supplier quoted me when I brought my N299
----Quote----
Thecus N299, IP Server Storage Appliance, 2x 3.5" SATA Bays, USB2.0*, GbE LAN, RAID 0, 1 & JBOD
Thecus N299, IP Server Storage Appliance, 2 x 3.5" SATA Bays, USB2.0*, GbE LAN, RAID 0, 1 & JBOD/Auto Rebuild, Thermal controlled system fan, Journaling File System, LED Indicators, StorLink SL3516 32-bit SoC Processor, Kensington Lock, Simple Surveillance Server, Web-based Administration, User Authentication and Permission Management. (*USB2.0 cannot be used for direct data transfer to PC)
----End Quote----
No I have updated the Bios to the current version available from the Thecus website. Took me ages to get my 2 X 1TB Samsung HD103UJ HDD configured in mirrored raid. Finaly got that to work, created User folders Collin, Jane, Main, Programs. In the Collin and Jane folders there were sub folders Laptop and Desktop to allow me to create backups of these peoples data. The Main folder was create for the sole use of files that needed access from multiple computers at different times but each computer had to be able to have ownership rights. Programs was for each computer to store their downloads file so multiple computers didn't need to download the same program/file multiple times.
No this worked for 3 days, but now says "you do not have rights to veiw this file" nothing has changed and each user has a different username and password.
Today the HDD wouldn't show up yet pluged in seperatley on a test machine the data is still there but doesn't show up in the N299.
Now I have had conection issues from day dot, Needed to use the reset button multiple times to get the system working at default level.
When copying to this device the file speed starts off ok but slows down over time......but doesn't loose connection (which is a plus I suppose).
----Question----
Anyone else have these issues?
If so did going to 2 X 500GB HDD fix your issues?
I have noticed a few people having slower than optimal speeds of data transfer but no response has been made to them......anyone find a work around yet?
Definatley wont be recommending this unit next time.
