My 4100PRO setup was refreshing quick and painless ... until I attempted to protect a folder. I first created a new local user called test. Next I created a new folder, set browseable to yes, and public to no. Then using ACL with that folder highlighted, I clicked my test user, and selected the + in the Writable column. The test username appears there. Now from My Network Places in WinXP Pro, I double-click on the remote folder, and get a Connecting to N4100PRO dialog box. I enter the test user and password, but get a \\N4100PRO\foldername is not accessable. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you getting a permissions error saying that the drive is already mapped with another username/password? If there is a share connected due to connecting to say an open share versus a share with credentials associated with it ie. \\ipaddress\IPC$ it will not let you connect. A reboot of the computer will fix this or open a command prompt by going to START -> RUN then type cmd then ENTER. Then in the command prompt window type net use /delete * it will ask you if you want to disconnect all mapped drives. Say YES.
