Hi, i tried to upgrade the FW of my 5200 from 1.00.04 to the current official down loadable version 2.00.16.
When I choose the FW file the upload is starting and after that I get the dialog that is warning me about the update and I am sure. When I press OK, the dialog with the progress bar is showing, but nothing is happening. The percent is remaining at 0%. And after a few seconds the Fail dialog is showing up.
Is it possible to update from 1.00.04 to 2.00.16? Do I need an other FW to start from or to upgrade to?
there has been plenty of reports from users who have had problems making some a large jump in firmware versions. I'd attempt upgrading to an intermediate version, maybe 2.00.04 first if I was in your shoes.
Now it is worse. After some retries the upgrade started. But it stop at 7%. All retires fail at 7%. After a few retries the box was not responsive any more. So I restarted. During boot it shows now 2.00.16 but I am unable to access the box any more. The Setup Wizard change the IP for the LAN, but I cannot access the box with any browser.
I tried then every USB stick upgrade procedure and any factory_test.sh that I was able to find in the Web. Also tried 4 different USB sticks from 256MB to 4GB. I was unable to install with the USB method a new FW. The BOX access the USB stick, but nothing is happening.
The only thing I didn't tried so far is to directly write an image to the DOM, because I do not have the needed adaper.
Is there are any other procedure? Or how can I force to write a new FW?
I appreciate that this is probably stating the far too obvious but when you tried connecting to the default ip address with your browser, you did change the clients ip address to be the same subnet as the nas, right?
I too had problems upgrading from a V1 firmware to a V2 firmware. After sending the details of the repeated failed firmware upgrades to Thecus, they confirmed that I need a replacement DOM. Unfortunately, my 5200BR was out of warrantly by this stage. I found my local supplier in Australia and I was able to purchase a replacement DOM through them for $75 AUD.
The replacement DOM already had a slightly older V2 firmware and worked a treat once installed. I was able to update it to the latest version at the time and it has been running fine ever since.
