Please! Either built into the firmware release, or as a module. www.gluster.org/It does require a FUSE kernel module, and the libfuse library so I figure it will need to be done as a firmware release. However, it would be pretty neat to be able to cluster multiple Thecus NAS products together seamlessly. Pretty please? B.

I'd like to second that request ... would mean we can roll out a lot more Thecus boxes here. We currently use the N8800 Please! Gluster, the leading provider of scale-out, open source storage solutions for public and private clouds, today announced Gluster Virtual Storage Appliances will now support KVM and Xen. Gluster Virtual Storage Appliances are specifically designed for public and private cloud and virtual machine (VM) environments. The appliances give enterprises the ability to treat physical storage as a virtualized, standardized, and scale-on-demand pool in much the same way that they treat computing resources today, radically improving storage economics in the process. With multi-hypervisor support, the Virtual Storage Appliance integrates GlusterFS into a virtual machine for deployment on any hypervisor or cloud platform.
“The popularity and rapid growth of the KVM and Xen communities over the years has been remarkable. In our discussions with our community and key partners, we recognized the crucial need KVM and Xen users have for scale-out cloud storage like our GlusterFS offering,” said AB Periasamy, co-founder and CTO of Gluster. “We are excited to announce this next step in our product roadmap and look forward to the opportunities it will provide. Many of our customers are already planning to extend the benefits they achieve with Gluster into a KVM or Xen environment.”
