After reading many threads, I’m still not certain as to the following question- is the plain N5200 capped at 3 terra bytes of storage capacity and will always be that way? If so, is it due to physical hardware constraints, firmware or other? I’m running the latest 2.00.15.
Thanks in advance.

Hello, I actually have 5 1 TB HD in RAID 5, so the total storage available is more than 3 TB : actually around 3.8 TB. And some people are using 1.5 TB HD in it. The filesystem limitation is at 8 TB, I think.

..., so it's not limited to 3 TB. 3 TB is YOUR choice with actual available drives and YOUR security requirements.
Say you use 5x1.5TB drives as JBOD, you would have more or less 6.8TB on-line.
I don't think we can say the N5200 (or any other Thecus NAS) is capped to 3TB.

With the Pro, you can use 2 RAID volumes to get around it. Formats and rebuilds would be measured in days.
