Hi,
I just reflashed my n2100 back to the Thecus firmware after having a Debian install on it for a while. I am having problems getting it to create a new RAID1, it says it is degraded the whole time. In putty i can see there are md0 through md5. I had Raid and LVM setup under debian so im thinking that the Thecus is confused.
Whats the best way to completely remove all partitions and raid configs from the HDD so i can start with a confirmed clean HDD?
I would be grateful for some help as im not hot on linux partitioning.
thanks
n

I have somewhat of a generic answer that may help. You will have to remove the HDDs temporarily to do this though. Whenever I want to completely wipe partition/format/raid info from a drive so it is fresh as can be, I use one of two boot floppy options: 1) MBRtool (Google this) or a disk wipe tool such as 2) Darik's Boot And Nuke www.dban.org/ or "Secure Erase" cmrr.ucsd.edu/people/Hughes/SecureErase.shtmlMBRtool is really fast, but not as thorough as the HDD sanitization programs.
